Your website or product’s profitability and success is directly dependent on how much traffic, targeted traffic, you get.  Consider how profitable you could be if your prospective customers found your website near the top of search results for the keywords used in your industry.  The process of getting your website to the top of the search engines is known as search engine optimization (SEO). Internet marketing research and studies have proven time and time again that in the majority of cases organic search engine optimization strategies (Organic/natural SEO services) are far more cost effective then pay per click (PPC) advertising. As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work and what people search for.   SEO positions your website to reach a larger audience of online consumers that are already searching for products and services like your own.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” or un-paid (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results as opposed to search engine marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion.  The acronym “SEO” can also refer to “search engine optimizers,” a term adopted by an industry of consultants who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients, and by employees who perform SEO services in-house. Optimizing a website primarily involves editing its content and HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines.  Search optimization is a hyper-competitive endeavour that requires intense focus and a thorough, up-to-date understanding of how the search engine algorithms and robots operate.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) involves targeting consumers by optimizing pages in your web site to appear for the specific keywords and key phrases. With technological advances in performance tracking and analytics, it is possible to initiate an SEO campaign and gauge its effectiveness “in real time” to determine which sales tactics and conversion funnels (keywords, landing pages or marketing tactics) are gaining the most significant traction through consumer response.

SEO companies that employ overly aggressive techniques can get their client websites banned from the search results.  An SEO technique is considered white hat if it conforms to the search engines’ guidelines and involves no deception.  Black hat SEO attempts to improve rankings in ways that are disapproved of by the search engines, or involve deception.    The argument between SEO supporters and PPC supporters about which is the most effective internet marketing strategy is as old as SEO and PPC themselves. Many search engine marketing conferences are held throughout the year which can help you meet and learn from many well known SEO professionals.
