Our paradigms are simply habits that result when our ideas become fixed and a belief is formed. Why is it that some people become involved in marketing and have significant success while others have significant failure and quit? Another question that could be asked is why is it that some people have tremendous amounts of confidence while others are extremely insecure. Some people rise to the top of a compensation plan without much apparent effort and enjoy the climb while the greater majority hover in mediocrity in their MLM .
Some people see adversity as an exciting challenge while others see it as extremely bad luck or misfortune where nothing ever seems to go right. I recall a mentor of mine telling me once that it doesn’t matter which way the wind blows when the sale is trimmed properly the boat will go wherever it is intended to go. An aircraft made of steel defies gravity and climbs thousands of feet into the air. A ship made of steel does not sink to the bottom but instead glides through the water with great speed.
If you want to change the results you’re getting you need to begin by changing your thoughts because it is your thoughts that create your paradigms. We’ve all heard the expression you need to think outside the box – but what does that really mean? If you don’t like the results you’re getting then start questioning the way you think and start challenging your paradigms. Begin rejecting any limiting thoughts about what you’re capable of accomplishing. In the same way that we recommend people play golf with great golfers or play pool with great pool players or if you want to become wealthy start associating with wealthy people is because you start adopting these successful people’s paradigms.
- Thoughts create
- Feelings which create
- Actions which create
- Results which confirm your thoughts
Maslow said that people either step forward into growth or they step backward into safety. How do you spend your day – avoiding things that you don’t like, things that make you feel uncomfortable or challenging them and becoming competent in responding to them? Failure to succeed starts off as ignorance however; many people have a paradigm that states failure is their lot in life. Failure is nothing more than a stage in a process in the evolution towards success.
When you tell someone that they can make $10,000 a month and they’ve never made more than $2000 a month you’re speaking nonsense and they immediately reject the possibility. Yet these same people will readily admit that there are people who make much more than $10,000 in a month they just don’t believe that they can ever achieve that hence they have a paradigm that limits their success. This limitation transfers into everything that they do. Harv Ecker states that how we do anything is how we do everything.
Now what can we use to combat our repressive/regressive paradigms as part of our MLM success strategy so that we can enjoy the abundant life we deserve?
Anthony Robbins talks about paradigms using your record as an analogy. The record with its grooves allows the needle to follow along and by its very nature keeps it moving in the same direction continuously. He says that if you want to change that habit scratch the record until the needle can no longer follow its path. Very simple way to do this is to put up dream boards, carry dream cards with you, listen to or read positive self affirmations.
Start associating with people who have the attributes or the success history that you would like to have yourself. If you continue to hang around dream stealers, your chance of breaking out of your failure paradigm is virtually impossible. When you introduce an idea or a way of thinking enough times your subconscious mind will begin to accept these thoughts or beliefs as your own. The world you have around you every day of your life results from what’s going on inside of you. You see a world of opportunity and abundance or do you see a world of struggle and lack.
One of my favourite coaches is Bob Proctor. I’ve gone to several live seminars and listened to him speak on this topic. I would encourage anyone to attend one of his conferences and in my resource section I have included “The Science of Getting Richâ€. This is an excellent video and audio course and deals directly with this topic. Anyone can become successful once they understand why they have paradigms if their desire to change is firm.
